array_chunk question

Hiya..
I need help in using array_chunk correctly to break up $filesArray into 5's, pass the array index offset via a GET variable to do next 5/ prev 5. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe this is what you need:

while (false !== ($filename = readdir($dh))) { 
   $filesArray[] = $filename; 
}
$chunkedArrays = array_chunk($filesArray, 5);
$arraysIndex = (isset($_GET['arraysIndex'])) ? $_GET['arraysIndex'] : 0;

foreach ($chunkedArrays[$arraysIndex] as $images) {
   //...
}

print '<a href="blah.php?arraysIndex=' . ($arraysIndex-1) . '">Previous</a> | <a href="blah.php?arraysIndex=' . ($arraysIndex+1) . '">Next</a>';

Or something to that extent, hopefully.

Edit: Just noticed that there is a little problem on this line I guess

$chunkedArrays = array_chunk($filesArray, 5);

it shows only 3 images on the first page and on the rest it shows 5, can you pls tell me how can I fix the first page so it shows 5 images on every pages?

Hm, I'm not sure what would do that. However, doing something similar without using array_chunk() would probably do the job. For example:

while_(false !== ($filename = readdir($dh))) {
   $filesArray[] = $filename;
} 

$arraysIndex = (isset($_GET['arraysIndex'])) ? $_GET['arraysIndex'] : 0;
$start = 0 + (5 * $arraysIndex);

$i = $start;
while (($i < $start+5) && isset($filesArray[$i])) {
   $image = $filesArray[$i];
   //... 
   $i++;
} 

Of course the links could be used the same way as before. Anyway, it's just an idea. Like I said, I don't know why array_chunk() would do that. I've never actually used it before.

Hi douceur,
it didn't fix the problem so I fixed that in a different way, like this(not the proper way but works.. ):

if ($_GET['page']=="0")
{
	$PicturesLimitation = 23;
}else{
	$PicturesLimitation = 21;
}

I have one last question related to this matter if I may ask 🙂

$page = $_GET['page'];

//this part makes it so that when the page shows "0", that doesn't subtract anymore...

if (($page) == 0){
$previousX = ($arraysIndex);
}else{
$previousX = ($arraysIndex-1);
}

//This part doesn't work properly, is there any better way to do this part? 
$showresult = round($totalpictures / $PictureLimitation);

if (($page)==$showresult) { 
$NextX = ($arraysIndex+1);
}else{
$NextX = ($arraysIndex);

Hm, I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're trying to do. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thinK you're wanting it to take the total number of pictures, divide by the number of pictures to display on each page, and then decide if you're on the last page or not.

If that's the case, the ceil() function would work better for you than round. Even if you have just one more picture to display, you do need another page. However, round() will most likely bring you down to the lower integer, whereas ceil()p will aways bring you to the higher one.
