question about a variable.

when i tried to create a variable

$test = "<JHGFGR";

its empty.
if i change it and put a number after the less than everything is ok.

$test = "<2JHGFGR";

how can i output this
$test = "<JHGFGR";
without having to change anything...

View source after you output it. I think you'll find that both are being displayed but the "<JHGFGR" one is being interpretted as a tag by the html parser in the browser. T get around this do [man]htmlentities()[/man] on the variable before outputting it.
