[Resolved] $_GET problem...

Hi!
I think many of you guys know how to fix this problem(not me🙁), I'm trying to get selected dynamic link my folder, it shows index.php?link=my%20Folder

so it's hard to get the real link result using $_GET, I really need to get this problem fixed because also having the same problem with other things. Like, I cannot check mysql tables or search with the wrong result.

if anyone know how to fix this, pls drop me a line.... thanks!

Your question is unclear.

But you should read and understand how strings are encoded in HTML form submissions:

http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/html-spec/html-spec_8.html#SEC8.2.1

... and look up "urlencode" and "urldecode" in the PHP manual.

Hey kikki, when you are dealing with web things anyhow it's better to not even try to deal with spaces in path names due to how different browsers and servers handle it. If possible, you should give consideration to replacing spaces in your path names with underscores or something like that... ( _ )

Otherwise, as yelvington stated, look into [man]urlencode[/man] and [man]urldecode[/man].

hey.. thanks for the replies guys,
I've been reading the suggested articles. Gave me lotz of information abt encoding and decoding, didn't help to solve my problem.. also string replacement was good idea but dangerous :p

what I mean is, I gave users to create categories & subcategories, they give what ever name when they create them, i.e:

"php files", "my family pictures", and "Jak & daxter"

Link looks like this:

echo "'index.php?php=' . $_GET['php'] . '&category=' . $_GET['category'] . '&game=' . $_GET['game'] . '";

and the result will be🙁because $_GET doesn't understand space 🙁)

index.php?php=php&category=my&game=jak

which is not understandable by my site, I'm having this problem all over my site when I let users to create categories or when they upload files with spaces and "&" character.

If you guys know how to solve this problem, pls let me know, thanks!

rawurlencode() does the standard thing and replaces non-alphameric chars with the asci code eg. %20 for space etc. Read the manual properly this time, it is an easy fix.

I've used rawurlencode(), That was a smooth FIX 😃
