[Resolved] preg_replace() fails, please help

		$html = preg_replace('/(&?action=)[^&]*(&?.*)/i', '&action=' . $_REQUEST['action'] . '&refAction=' . $_REQUEST['refAction'] . '$2', $html);

I'm once again on a deadline and literally only one line is failed, the above-mentioned preg_replace() fails to replace the pattern throughout every occurrence of "&action=..." within $html (there are several of them); it only does the pattern replacement one time and stops.

Can someone please help me fix this? I've tried every known combination I can think of to no avail.

And I made the deadline by being late only by 2 minutes:

		$html = preg_replace('/(&?[^a-zA-Z0-9\-_\.])action=[^&">]*(&?)/i', '$1action=' . $_REQUEST['action'] . '&refAction=' . $_REQUEST['refAction'] . '$2', $html);
