Batch Add

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I'm a true newbie. Anyways, here goes:

On my website (prebuilt CMS) I have the ability to select a file, and catagory and then upload that file and it is then added to the list. The uploaded file is encoded by one of the files on my site and a hash of the file is also added into the SQL database. I need to be able to perhaps upload a bunch of files into a folder via FTP and then have them processed and put into my database (similar to how many of the php photo album batch adds photo's). I don't really need any specific code. Just perhaps a sense of direction on how to go about doing this.

What CMS is it? PHP-Nuke, GeekLog, Droopal, Xoops?

Have you searched google (or the CMS's website) for a plugin/mod to add this functionality?

Well, it is called BtitTracker. You might be able to guess what it's primary function is. I have posted in their forum requesting a hack adding this capability but it looks like I'll have to do it myself.

Oh.

Here's a general direction:

1) Allow FTP uploads (duh!)
2) Login, and call up the batch script (duh!)
3) Filter through the directory to see if there are any files!!
4) Count how many there are
5) Display a form asking where to put them (category, folder, whatever you want)
6) Move the files to the directory/category specified.
7) Re-examine the directory for any missed files.

That's basically what you'd need to do.

I'm sure if you look around, you'll find code on Listing files in a directory and Moving files.

Remember this: Keep the FTP upload directory and the final destination directory separate.
