creating user accounts

Does anyone know how to create multiple user accounts? I am creating a website, and in it I want the user to have the ability to log on with a user name and a password. After that, the user would be taken to his own personal space, where they can keep a journal, or images, etc. I'm just not sure how to make it so the user has a private space away from the main site. I have php & mysql & dreamweaver, and am using phpmyadmin to administrate. Can you help me? Thanks!! 😉

maintain a table for storing username, password, the amout of storage to be used by the end user and the amount of storage he had used already.....

maintain a seperate folder and try giving options to upload the images and files.....

find the storage capacity used by the folder and do the calculations.........

SEARCH these forums. This user login problem comes up so often that we are fed up with answering it. I have posted links, solutions and code at least half a dozen time in the past few months.

There will be no need to complicate things with seperate dirs for each user etc. Store user data for each user in the db along with their user id. Store files, images etc in general purpose folders and just store the filename in the db with the owners id. Use sessions to save the user id when they login, and use that session var in all queries so that users can only get their own data.
