Calendar question....

I know calendars have been beat to death around here, but I'm not looking for code (yet!) just some conceptual guidance...

I don't exactly need to produce a Calendar per se, but a list of recurring events... what I'm not sure about is that almost all of the events are "2nd and 4th Mondays of the month" etc. Can future dates be calculated this way with php? Like I said, I don't need code here, just an assurance that it can be done... before I waste some brain cells on it!
