mysql and array problem

I am getting the following errors on a page to view customer orders, maybe someone could help me understand what they mean, and hopefully I can figure out how to fix it. I am only a beginner at PHP.

Your first error is PHP error says that you you haven't properly created an array of data to be worked on by the function.

Your second error is a MySQL Error that typically gets generated when you try to execute a malformed query.

My guess is:
You have a bad query that returns no values for array_unique to act on.

I'm not sure if those errors are going to give me any more trouble at the moment. Now I am working on some other problems with the site. I'm trying to get the shopping cart to calculate the sub-total correctly. The problem is, I didn't write all of this code, I'm picking up where someone left off, and trying to reverse engineer it.
