[Resolved] Content Checker

I want to make a script that where a user inputs a url and a keyword and the script checks that page for that keyword and if it does it says something like, "This page (URL) has found the keyword X ammount of time" or something like that and if it doesnt find it then it says that. I would have no idea how to do this. Is this possible in PHP?

I checked hotscripts and I didnt find anything that can help me.

You need to use fopen() to set up the url and then you can grab the page as a string using file_get_contents . After that it is the string function substr_count .

I did not know what functions to use, that was the problem.

Yep. So reading the manual index would have led you to filesystem functions, Dooh!. Then reading the function list descriptions would have led to file get contents where it tells you about fopen. Likewise strings. Really.

Now understand. No one knows everything about any language or operating system, etc. The real talent is in being able to find out what you need to know when you need to know it.
