changing name of db and tables ?

Hi,
I have set up my db in mysql with several tables and I now want to change one of the tables' name and also want to change the name of the database. Can this be done ? If so how do I do it ?

CREATE DATABASE
RENAME TABLE
DROP DATABASE

Thanks - i read the links and also looked at ALTER DATABASE which i guess is the one i want.

I counldn't tell what the sintax is for it though (it isn't very clear on that page)

Because i am not changing a field (column) name or characteristic I do not know how to do this ??

any ideas ? my ref book hasn't got this !

i don't believe that ALTER DATABASE will allow you to rename it. the common method is to CREATE a new db, RENAME all the old tables to the new db, and then DROP the old one.

tab_a, tab_b and tab_c

how do i get these onto my newly created db named db_two ?

without re-typing in all the field names and data ?

RENAME TABLE db_one.tab_b TO db_two.tab_b;
RENAME TABLE db_one.tab_c TO db_two.tab_c;
DROP DATABASE db_one;

Just go get something like http://www.phpmyadmin.net and you can rename the database and tables quite easily. If you aren't using php check into the graphical admin program made by MySQL.
