recommended way to install 4.3.10 on BSD / apache 1.33

Hi, I'm struggling to install php 4.3.10 on an intel FreeBSD box with Apache 1.33. I've been trying to do it manually building them both, but have so far failed. Before diving too deep into the details of the failure
, is there a recommended way to do this using BSD ports or packages?

The box was configured several months ago without apache or php preinstalled, so i'm not upgrading, just installing fresh.
