[Resolved] load infile and timestamp

Hey all,

I am using a very simple sql command:

$tmpquery = "LOAD DATA INFILE '../traffic_log/traffic.txt' INTO TABLE traffic_logs";
connectSql("$tmpquery");

This command works like a charm and uploads the file info as I need. The problem I am having is that I have a timestamp field in the table as well. I want the timestamp to log the time when that upload is done for each row inserted. Timestamp does this automatically when im doing a normal sql insert, but this load data insert seems to leave timestamp as 000000... Is there any command to use with load data infile to get it to allow that timestamp to generate? Thanks much!

you didn't mention which RDBMS you are using but i will assume it is mySQL.

from the mySQL manual:

TIMESTAMP columns are set to the current date and time only if there is a NULL value for the column (that is, \N), or (for the first TIMESTAMP column only) if the TIMESTAMP column is omitted from the field list when a field list is specified.

Hi, thanks for the help. This is for mysql. I read that over. I have tried it with the field list specified and with it not specified. The time stamp I am trying to work with is the first timestamp column as the directions show. I have left it unspecified, while specifiying the others as the instructions show, but still getting -0000..

$tmpquery = "LOAD DATA INFILE '../traffic_log/traffic.txt' INTO TABLE phpcollabcsv (field1, field2, field3)";

Timestamp would be field5, so it isnt specified in there, so by the directions, it should update.. Anything wrong with this? The rest of the insert is working great. Thanks for the help!

nm.. looks like the above is working now. Not sure why it didnt work for the first few min. thanks for the help with this!
