Hello Everyone,
I have built a simple website on a home server. I know very little about computers so it has been a uphill battle all the way. If it were not for forums like this, many like myself would be lost. So thanks to all who take time to help. I know it means alot to me.

I have some php scripts running on my site but the e-mail function dose not work becouse my smtp server requires authentication.  If someone could point me in the right direction I can try to figure this out. I am using windows 2000 pro with indigo perl package. I tried to set up apache, perl, php, and mysql  myself but that didnt go so well. I have it all working with the indigo package. Not much fun without email.

Email Function:

mail("SEND TO","SUBJECT","MESSAGE","From:FROM");
?>

SEND TO: e-Mail Of The Receiver
SUBJECT: Subject
MESSAGE: Body
FROM: From Your Email Address (Or Whichever)

Hmm, maybe you should read the post before replying. He states

So he knows the what the mail function is he just doesnt know how to enable SMTP Settings within his php.ini to get it working.

I dont use Windows much but you may want to find a Mail Server although. So you can send it without needing to login to another.

I was able to find a program called indigo mail. Its sendmail for windows and seems to be working. In my php.ini I used

[mail function]
;for win32 only.
;smtp = localhost

;for win32 only
;sendmail_from =

;for unix only
sendmail_path = sendmail dir\sendmail.exe -t -i

and all is well. I hope this helps someone else with the same prob

Hi,

alternatively, you can use a class like e.g. phpmailer.sourceforge.net which supports SMTP authentication and makes stuff like attachments a lot easier.
