How to cache information can be shared by session??

Hi,

I need to maintain a pretty big readonly piece of information for my php script to run.

I can read it from DB and store it in a session variable to save the DB operation. However, how can I share that information among different sessions?

Keep such info per session will be very expensive...

I think you overlook the fact that most modern DBs use Query Cache . So if the read-only data really does not change you can just keep on sending the same query in your script and it will be returned from the cache with Very Little overhead and no db disk reads.

Operating system virtual memory disk reads will apply whether you use the query cache or any kind of memory buffer, while session vars are stored in a disk file from call to call.
