Counter alt? and passeord protect?

Ok, I know noting about PHP! My site is completely made of php files because of 1 little bit code so I thought that mabey you'd be able to do this in PHP...

Ok, first off I want a counter on my site but after awhile I realised that it was ugly and I didn't want it but I want to know how many unique users and hits I've had on the site, is there anyway I can do this?

And second off, is there a way to password protect pages using PHP?

1) yes, but you'd have to learn some PHP. or at least grab one thats already made from hotscripts.com or something.

2) yes, but its not ideal and again you'd have to learn PHP. Your better off using a .htaccess file.
