best resource calendar?

I am looking for a calendar that will allow me to keep track of when a resource, such as a room, is booked. I need to be able to:

(1) check to see if the resource is already booked
(2) book days if appropriate

I would love to be able to see what days are available around the time requested if the requested days are not available.

I need it on a daily basis (not hourly). Does anyone know of such canned functionality I could use?

If not, does anyone have suggestions about what data structure to use to keep track. For example, I could have a table row for each resource, with a field for year and a field for each day of the year. This seems a bit cumbersome, but it would work.

I currently have one for ASP, and am converting it to PHP...but it won't be ready for a few days yet. You might try www.hotscripts.com or http://sourceforge.net for other similar scripts

I have made two seperate calendar/scheduling apps like what you want. The first one is to keep track of what needs to be done in our test lab. It shows a view of a calander (just like one you would hang on your wall) with the test name written in the cell on the day that it's due.

The other one is used to book time on one of three ovens that we have (for curing composite parts). The user would select a date and time they want a particular oven for, then fill in the details (temperature, duration, etc). If the time the wanted overlaps with another item, it would try to resolve the conflict by selecting a different oven, or rescheduling it. This schedule is based on hours though, not days.

Would combining both of these do what you need it to do?

Yes, I can post the code. I just need to clean it up a bit (or maybe a lot hehe).

We use it on our internet, so I will fix it up for use on the Internet. The way it sits now there is no security on it, so you'll have to add that. Also, we use MS SQL, which supports Views (which many of my queries use), and MySQL doesn't. Where appropriate, I will provide the SQL query used to create the View table.

I will try to have it for you by tomorrow, later in the day.
