getting files from a cd??

hello, i have created a cd indexing database and the client wants to have it so that you just popup in the cd and it reads the files from the cd and stores all its files on the database.

so in other words you go to "add cd" you put in the all your fields such as cd number,cd label and select a cd drive and then index it.
is this possible????

hmmm. interesting concept. You would have to use some heavy clientside JS to:

1. the cd drive
2. read the disk
3. input those values in a form

or

You could write a downloadable COM object to do this.

PHP itself cannot do this, its serverside and this all needs to run on the client
