PHP with Windows XP Pro / IIS 5.1 - Possible?!?

Hello,

I have been searching for an answer to this for days with no positive results.

I've googled this question so many times and never can get an explanation that actually works. Every tutorial is completely different and even some say it's not possible. That I must use Windows 2000 or 2003.

Could someone PLEASE give me a straight answer? Can I configure PHP to run with IIS 5.1 on Windows XP Pro? Yes or no?!? 😕

If the answer is "Yes", then HOW for crying out loud?!? I've spent days searching for an answer and hours going through and testing each tutorial. Still, nothing is working at all.

Hope someone can explain this or provide me with a site that has a tutorial that provides accurate information!

I'm not sure of your particular setup, and I cant answer your question directly......

however, php works great with apache on XP Pro. not to mention the many benefits of running apache over IIS

I have done it! 😃 Seems to work for me... I'm only running a local server though (for building and testing applications) - it doesn't have access to the internet, so I don't have to worry about security issues. But I did get it to work. Oh yes - check out http://www.dslwebserver.com - that's how I learned how to do a basic setup of php/mysql with IIS. If you need any help, let me know! Nathan

The best bet to run a PHP server to develop locallyl is to download WampServer from WAMPSERVER.com.
Their download is a complete package which includes the latest stable PHP 5 release with the latest MySQL, Apache, and other PHP add on modules.
Ive been using it for a year now with no trouble.
