Check if it's a image link

How could i tell wether link is a image file link or not .

for example,

//This is a  image link
[url]http://www.phpbuilder.com/board/images/icons/icon8.gif[/url]
//This is not 
sdfsdfdsf  Blah blah
//This is not even
[url]http://www.google.com[/url]

You can check wether something is a file:

http://nl3.php.net/filetype

and subsequently get the extention, and test against a set of wanted / known filetypes?
