openssl on 4.3.4

Hi, trying to compile 4.3.4 (can't change the version for reasons to boring to get into) with openssl but I'm having some problems.
It compiles fine and when I run stuff with the CLI it seems to work fine but it won't run as an apache module. There's no errors in the Apache error logs and there's no configure, make or make install warnings. Any ideas?

On a side note, when I run make test I get loads of errors, even without openssl when it works fine 😕

in which way doesn't it run as apache module (apache doesn't start, ssl functions don't work, PHP error messages ....) ?

Which configure options did you use ? What do you get if you execute

ldd /path/to/libphp4.so

Which modifications did you apply to httpd.conf ?
