large multiple selection

hi. the problem i have is a large table of values, and i want to have an easy way of selecting a few of these on a form.
i was thinking the best way would be to have two seect boxes, one with all the values, and one empty, and two buttons to shift values from one side to the other. however, im not entirely sure how to do this, and it looks as though i may have to use java script, which only makes things harder as i am not certain how to integrate the two languages. if someone coud point me in the right direction that would be great, cos im sure many ppl have ahd the same issue for some sites.

js has nothing to do with php. js all happens on the client and is simply 'written' to the browser by a php page.
