Detecting Computer User Name

I'm working on an intranet app, and as part of the authentication scheme, I'd like to be able to detect the user name that the user logged into their computer as. Is this possible?

Any guidance you can offer is most welcome.

Other members have indicated that they were successful in using the ldap functions to accomplish this, but I haven't ever made it work, nor can I get anyone to explain how they made it work or give code snippets. Good luck, and if anyone knows, I'd sure be interested in it myself.

hmm i know whay your meaning but i am unsure there is a way of what your trying to do in php have you tried c++ ?
