I need to create an application for a project for one of my classes.
It has to be based on a business.

This is the senario..I came up with When you walk into a club..and go to the guestlist girl you tell her your name and she checks you off on the list she then hands you a reduced admission ticket and you then go to the cashier to pay. This is there is about 100 problems involved.

What I want to do it create an electronic database. So when you come to the club you can type in your own name and if your on the list the application will check you off and print you out a reduced admission ticket.

I need to make a database with a list of names. This data base needs a prompt so when you run the application it will ask you to type your name in. Once you done that it searches the list for your name. If your on it will check you off and say "thankyou(or something)" and possibly print out a ticket. Other things it needs to include are Age, Time person came in, # of times they been there etc..

I want to know if this is possible to do? My friend told me it could be done in PHP? If possible how diffcult? I don't know any php besides basic copy and paste stuff to add mods on invision boards. I do know HTML.

Its not difficult, but would require some planning on your database design and how you wish your code to work.

Don't know if this is something to think about: My name isn't on the guest list. So I keep plugging away. There's a good chance there might be a Smith or another popular last name. How will you authenticate the person is who they say they are? I guess one work around would be when they go and pay with their ticket, they have to show ID and the cashier can take care of that problem.

when thinking about printing via browser... think again, it sucks... generate a pdf on the information and print that way
