Not the sort of response i hoped for 🙂
Suppose thats the burden of small websites, they aren't that bad though. Barely have any downtime something like 1% or less per week.
Good enough for the current size of my website (about 1000 uniques p day).

Really slow as well, even when it is up. I know you probably don't have a lot of cash, but skimping on hosting costs is a bad business decision.

Well i chose this host for it's reliability.
It barely had any unhappy costumers at all. It has been performing great until a month ago when the first hickup occured.
The problem repeated 2 more times but they seemed to be back to being great again. Now switching hosts to soon would be a strange business desiccion since even the hosts with the most outstanding track records seem to falter every now and then.

I'm not downsizing on hosting cost. All i meant is that upperclass hosting companies(those really out of reach for my small website) tend to have really stable systems.

Well, please don't take this the wrong way, but someone who is still at school will find it difficult to prove the assertion that 'I'm skilled in business' or 'good at making business decisions'.

I don't know, you may already have several successfull business ventures under your belt, or be running profitable companies already set up. But in that case you should have the cash to go out and hire the skills you need in the market place.

I agree that you don't need to be an expert programmer to run a software company, just as being an expert programmer in no way qualifies one to run a successfull business. The skill sets are just not related that closely as many of us have found to our cost.

I could tell you about a few things I did which you might like.

First promo activity for my site was the game called hl2 total mayhem.
It's a flash game hooking in to the hl2 hype at that time and got me 4000 uniques per day for quite a while.
At that time my site was still very badly designed (it was my first steps after pagebuilder ) the game was also my first flash. So with basicly no knowledge i created a site which got 4000 uniques per day.

May I suggest never use Javascript to validate, i know your looking for someone and to be all honest this is the wrong place to ask about it. Anyway I bypassed your Upload script with invalid information, no upload checking. I then entered "a" without quotes for the upload field and it wanted to upload it giving me a nice list of errors.

Now Im sure you have got good intent and all but when you keep seeing posts about we will split profits, usually looks to me that they have already made a bad decision before starting, its like working for a supermarket and them saying we will only pay you if you have x amount in the registrar. I hope you see where I am coming from.

Also, before the job offers firm up any further, I should point out that this is not too far off advertising company partnerships. As the acceptable use policy and FAQs for these forums state, such things are not allowed in these forums. On the level of more general discussion of setting up and running a business, the thread has drifted away from PHP help, so I'm moving this to a more appropriate forum.

The upload field is not really protected yet. The first page is and you will find both php and javascript protection there.
IMHO the way it should be🙂

But indeed I'm 18 years old. My experience is low let's be honest about that. I have only run one profitable website so far, but (mainly because I was also learning to do php css html and photoshop) profits didn't get above an avarage of 5$ per day.

What you said with you shop example seems a bit strange to me. If you are very good in PHP you can make a big difference for the sucess of a website.
While an employe of the supermarket, well....
If you do something which is very important why should you want to work on somebody elses project instead of on your own?

Bingo, you win a prize. You probably aren't aware of this but we get people in here nearly every day asking for people to work on their projects. No posting adverts...it's against the rules...

Most of us already have 'important' things to do.

Not to sound offensive, but age these days has nothing to do with anything just look at one of the co-developers of Firefox its one of the most popular browsers now (well im sure i can say that now) and his http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Goodger on who I am talking about (his actually working for Google now but still part of the Mozilla Foundation with Firefox)

Ok I think you totally mis-read my shop example, basically what its meant to mean after read you have no gurantee of working for so many hours to see any money. Now correct me if I am wrong you are trying to make something then sell it, or are you trying to get clients. (either way you need to find people willing firstly to get you to do a project or buy the product).

Ok this made me think, if your saying that and recruiting hmm.. I dont mean to be rude hopefully it doesnt come out that way but seriously probably not the wisest thing to say when you look back on your aim of this topic.

If this is a volunteer project, it needs to be posted in the "New Projects: Announce Here" thread stickied in the EL.

If this is a job opportunity it is not allowed here in the EL.

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now, since there doesn't appear to be any real salary involved, and since so many people have been active in this thread, but keep that in mind for next time, k?

When it comes to programming then no, like any art, talent is native from an early age. Indeed, research has shown that 8 year old children are naturally more profficient than their parents at programming simply because their minds have not been trammelled into certain modes of thought by their education yet. They do not make the assumptions that non-programming adults make and that computers do NOT.

I must have done some seriously bad writing in my first post.
With web development I meant developing websites with new or altered business concepts and bringing them to succes.

I don't mean developing websites for somebody else. I mean developing websites with a team and sharing the advertising revenue together.
Any project we would do would just as much be your projects as it would be mine

That's true a lot of MBAs have made huge mistakes. But what you said about programming can in some instances also apply to business. Think about the number of youngsters who have done very well on the net. Still experience is definitly very important.
I cannot say that I won't make any mistakes out of lack of experience, but I'm sure to try and make up for them with ambition and talent.
