What hit counter do you use?

A customer wants a couter to show how many visitors she has had. I reviewing them I get lost very easily. It's free - no it's 39.00 - does this but only in the deluxe edition..........

Which counter do you use and why?

One that I wrote when I first started coding in PHP and MySQL. It's about 5 years old and has been through many revs, but it was my first real learning project, so it has sentimental value to me. Also, I have built into it, the exact features I want, and excluded what I don't. In my opinion, the project is easy enough, that you should write it yourself if you are confused or not satisfied by what you find out there.

Erm you could try making your own that way you can get exactley what functions you want 😃 i mad my own and i think it is verry usefull try googling "tutorial make counter" or somethink like that.

I use BBClone i find they have all of the stats i need to know... heres their site http://bbclone.de/

on their stat script they have browsers, ip, charts, timestats, operating system, referes, robots, most visited pages, key words and many more things... and its free

theres plenty of free counters out there.

you can check hotscripts.com and find tons of them.

if all you need is something to track how many hits a website gets, its VERY easy to write one yourself if you know basic php.

if you want website statistics, such as which pages did this visitor view, and what order they viewed them, how long they viwed each page for etc....and that type of stuff, you want more than a hit counter.

some examples of that would be analog, awstats, bbclone and a host of other good free ones. awstats is pretty good, i dont really like bbclone though. i like having lots of statistics, click paths etc...

so it depends what you need.
