[Resolved] Query is not excluding ID when using <> -- Why?

Hi,

I am using the following query to EXCLUDE a certain Id number...but the Id number is showing in the results. The query is as follows

select Id from mastertable where list_price BETWEEN '100000' AND '350000' and town = 'Claremont NH' or town='Cornish NH' or town='Croydon NH' or town='Enfield NH' and baths >= '1' and bedrooms >= '1' and status ='C' and mod_date_time >= '2005-02-07 11:02:39' and Id<>102762;

Any ideas why Id 102762 is not being excluded?.....

No one has answered before because we can't see anything wrong either.

I assume that the Id field is an autoinc integer field so your syntax should be correct. Try leaving gaps between the Id <> 102762 . Don't know of any reason that should matter, but it may be a bug in your version of mysql that I'm not aware of.

Does the position of the 'and Id<>102762' make a difference? I mean should it be in the beginning or end of the query? Does it matter?

It only matters if you use an or in your where clause... which you did. You should use parenthesis to make sure what you intend will happen. I don't know what information you intend to pull from the db, but here's my best guess at what you want.

select Id from mastertable where list_price BETWEEN '100000' AND '350000' 
and (town = 'Claremont NH' or town='Cornish NH' or town='Croydon NH' or town='Enfield NH') 
and baths >= '1' and bedrooms >= '1' and status ='C' and mod_date_time >= '2005-02-07 11:02:39' and Id<>102762;
