php and phpbb.. how to add my code

I'm a php noob and I can't find and answer for this simple question...

How do I add my own php code into a phpbb thread (at the top)?

Top Where? In the title top of the post message? Also this is probably better asked at PHPBB of course when there back online.

Either in the first post, by the admin, or just above the first post.

Yea, I know.. phpbb has been down for a while now.. and anther good phpbb forum I found didn't have a search topic option and it returned almost every topic.

I'm gonna try to get some more help in here.. phpbb's site sucks. I couldn't pay someone for a reply.

anyway.. I was able to use a mod that allows php in templates and I am able to show what I want at the top, but it shows the same thing on every thread.

I noticed when you click on a thread, it passes a variable through the url, viewtopic.php?t=2.

Where is this variable passed to?

Would I be able to use it in my code to access a specific mysql database?

what do you meen. you want to add to the source of the phpbb application or you want to make like this site does, and have a sticky thread?

your going to need to be more specific. and , really, this should be getting posted at the phpbb site. ive never even looked at phpbb.

Its just some code that cycles links based on a hour countdown. I inserted it in viewtopic_body.tpl and it shows the output correctly at the top of the thread..ex, on this page, it would be between, > General Help > php and phpbb.. how to add my code and blue box at the top with the new thread and post reply buttons.

But since its in a template, it is used for every thread and my code is shown the same way on every thread.

view the html source, find the section of code you want to modify, then find the template or code which generates that html.
