[Resolved] php 5 and apache 2

Hi everyone,

I about to compile php5 on linux and I came into this warning in the INSTALL file:

Do not use Apache 2.0.x and PHP in a production environment neither on
Unix nor on Windows. For information on why, read the following FAQ
entry

I've read the FAQ "Why shouldn't I use Apache2 with a threaded MPM in a production environment?" but I don't understand their point.

What's wrong with Apache2 + PHP5 ?

I have some second-hand info by one of my college teachers who claims having wasted days of worktime trying to install those two together.

according to him, it's due to both apache 2 and php 5 using (different methods of) multi-threading.

no guarantee on the accuracy of this, though.

I dont see anything wrong with it i have PHP 5 and Apache 2.0.x running at the moment havent had any trouble so far, I dont see anything wrong with it being used for production use either.

Well in PHP's doc they don't recommend using Apache2. Their explanation isn't clear that's why I wanted to know more.

But in the I played safe and went for Apache1.3.
