Tracking download

My simple question ...how can I track downloads...

I am having a lot of links to zip or rar archive in my page and I want to track the number of downloads a file has made...

yeah i wrote a free one thats very lightweight and relatively easy to use. www.drew-phillips.com/scripts/ its the second one on the page and all the counts on there are tracked using it.
