how to make a copy of a database from remote server to our own server?

I am making a site where the client requirement is take the data from different databases from different servers.
In this site every thing is based on third party databases and tables so first we need to know how to access and connect databases and files from the remote server and get connected to our server, one more important thing is during the list and search we have to take (fetch) the data from our different databases which is updating in a regular interval.
Please give us a solid suggestion and if possible please give us some reference to fetch the data (images,.ipx and other type of data) and databases from different servers.

Please help me here the problem is that how to connect from the remote server and take the databases as well as other files in our server.
i don't know how it is possible.

Anyways, this is for a client, aren't you getting paid to know how to tackle this stuff? I mean, you wouldn't have taken on the job if you (or your company) didn't know how to do this, right?

Problems like this require experience and creativitity. Both of which don't normally come cheap. I think I have the answers, but they're not worth giving away for free.
