major help...please

okay, I need to give a little background info for this:

I have been plauged with spam in my guestbook, so I askedmy host if it would be possible to put in a security nubering, like the pasword recvery system that several forums use. I got sent to these articles, but I've never done any PHP coding before and am at a loss to what they are talking about:

If anyone could help me out by explaining what it is saying to do in terms a simpleton could understand, I'd much appreciate it. Especially sice the spam bots are driving me mad

I gather you want some kind of box where you enter the characters that are rendered in an image to verify your a human and not a bot.

unfortunatly this is not a newbie task. You'd need to at least have some moderate php knowledge.

but like said above, if you have never written a line of php code before, you either need to spend some time learning php, or pay someone to do it for you.

Normally my host does the PHP coding for me, but he's been busy with other projects. I know a little of PHP, such as what changing certain values will do and why it's important to update the database file when you change something (accidentally caused my site to go down until I fixed it :queasy: ) What's the worst that can happen? Screw up and have the site down for a while? That's why I have test pages, to make sure it doesn't do that. I may be a complete neophite, but I can very easily get lucky on this.
