[Resolved] SOAP, which way to go.

Hiya all,

I'm wondering if anyone can help clear up some questions I have, as I’ve become a bit lost.

I've been asked to migrate a batch of data from one SQL database to a server which has only a SOAP interface for connectivity.

Ideally I’d like to do this using PHP, but which SOAP package would best to use?

From my searches on this board I’ve discovered there is SOAP:😛HP and NuSoap - do these fully support WSDL files?

Are there any obvious pitfalls to watch out for when choosing a SOAP package?

Is there any comparison charts?

I've not seen any comparison charts, but I went through the process of testing out both nuSoap and PEAR::SOAP a while back (pre php 5) and decided the PEAR::SOAP was the proper way to go do to its OO nature.

I've found PEAR::SOAP to be very well done and works well with WSDL generation (I'm using it on the server side) and in my tests works fine on the client side also (even though my main client is C#).

However I will tell you one great big pit fall I fell into in using SOAP. When processing large amounts of data (i.e. reporting data from a database) things crawl to a halt because of all of the overhead of encoding that data in SOAP. So if you are going to be dealing with large amounts of data per transaction I suggest that you find another way of doing it.
