What happens when you extract() on a multidimentional array?

Hello all,

First let me admit that I am a noobee with php. Have done asp up to this point but so far php looks great. I have a simple question that I have not found an answer to and I am not in a place where I can exeriment right now:

let's say you build an

     array("car"=>"corvette",
            "watch"=>"rolex",
            "girlfriends"=>array(
                       "paris", "nicole"),
            "when"=>"today");

So here's the question: when I use extract(), what is going to happen to be assigned to $girlfriends, will it be a single-dimentional array containing "paris", "nicole", something else?
