sessions help!

I am making a website. I have used sessions for user authentication. And I am very curious to know why- even when i close the browser and open the site again the same old session is resumed, i.e. if a user has logged in and then closed the
browser and then he opens it again , he will find himself logged in.

I want to know, is this the normal way in which sessions behave?

And in what circumstances a new session is created?

it sounds like the session.cookie_lifetime directive in your php.ini is not set to 0.

a normal session will only be deleted if ALL browser windows are closed. because a browser holds the sessiondata until he is completly down.

The cookie.session lifetime is set to 0. Even when i close the browser and then open again the same session is resumed. A different session is created only when I open the site with a different browser.

check your cookies. see if your browser is holding onto the cookie for some reason.

maybe you set it to do that.
