auto_increment without auto_increment

Hey,

I have a image gallery system Im working on. I want an ID to manage the pictures, and for the ID field to be a primary key. However, I do not want it to be an auto_increment field because if i delete one like 11 i have a gap like 9,10,12 and this could screw up my query because I'm using LIMIT 0,10 or 10,20.

Is this easily done?

No it wouldnt.

When you use LIMIT, you're LIMITing the number of ROWS to be returned. Not ID's. You filter those out by you're WHERE clauses.
