what is the difference between environmental and server vairalbles

Can any one give the differences and examples to environmental and server variables.

Environment variables are related to and originate from the environment, ie the operating system (eg Linux). Server variables are arelated to and originate from the server, ie the webserver software (eg Apache).

Environment variables: $_ENV
These variables are imported into PHP's global namespace from the environment under which the PHP parser is running. Many are provided by the shell under which PHP is running and different systems are likely running different kinds of shells, a definitive list is impossible. Server variables: $SERVER
$SERVER is an array containing information such as headers, paths, and script locations. The entries in this array are created by the webserver.
