how do I open a image file?

Hi there,

I have this photo database is MySQL
and ofcourse linked in a PhP
I got lots of photo's and all those photo's stay's here on my computer, so this php site is not going live to the internet.
everything is build now I can search on exif information and file locatation etc.
and I even see a cool tumbnail of that picture.
this is what I want:
either you klick on my tumbnail to just open that picture in paint or acdsee.
or I make a hyperlink with the text "open this picture" and then open the picture in a picture editor.
how do I do that???

can you guys give me an example how to do this please??

i got a sollution...

minimize all windows

open 'my computer'

browse to the folder where the image is in

rightclick the image

choose 'edit with' (or whatever the name is)

and choose your editor (Paint or ACDsee in your case)

done!😉

yeah well that's not what I ment.

to fix this problem, I need to insert a <a href tag
the strange thing is, that the a href only works when I open an other php or html file.
when I want to open a image like the example below:

<a href="file:///<?= $location ?>" target="_blank">Open</a><br>

nothing shows up,
I see the location on the status bar of my webbrowser, that's jus fine, but when I klick on the hyperlink, nothing happens.
is there a some sort of configuration line in php.ini that needs to be adjusted?

how is that strange?

you can only open files in your webdirectory...

If you want to open files which are outside you need to go into the php.ini OR the httpd.conf file and edit some tag in there, i forgot the name but i saw a bunch of lines describing how to open files outside the http map...
