php has stopped working????

Can anyone help me with this?

I have been using php for a few months now without any trouble.

I started a new project today and the only way I can describe the probelm is that php seems to have stopped working.

When I run a simple script, just echoing 'Hello World' from a HTML page doesnt work and when I view the source files I can see all of the php tags as if they havnt been parsed.

Has anyone got any ideas??

I am using DWMX04 and PHP v 4.3.6 and doing all my testing / previews locally.

Is your web server setup to use the HTML extensions to parse php? (.htm, .html, etc) If so, and nothing on the server end has changed, you may want to restart your web service. Also, when you say "previews locally" you are pulling the URL as http://localhost/ right? I know these are simple/silly questions, but no sense in trying to troubleshoot hard things until you make sure the easy things are good-to-go...

yes thats right i test it through http://localhost/test.php

if i physically type that into the address bar it works but if i do it thorugh dreamweaver or preview the document directly from the web server directory it doesnt.

I just dont understand what has changed to make it suddenly start acting like this!!!
