Bootable CD's - Mandrake

I have a bootable CD for Mandrake, and like using it. However, my computer has a 1024 x 768 screen, and the bootable CD - which is the latest version - only goes up to 800 x 600.

Naturally, this is not good for using. Now, I know the full Mandrake, if you install it on the HD, goes way up there - in fact, I don't know what the highest resolution is. However, I want to know if this is something that is normal or is my bootable CD acting up on me...

I assume this is a live cd? Boot from it and run the apps...

They are probably using a generic vesa driver for your video card instead of the card specific one. So for it to work on everyones hardware, they limit it to 800x600x16bpp or whatever. Do you have the option of reconfiguring X and using a stored config file on floppy or something? That or a "real" install would probably be the only thing to do to fix it...
