Starting Out with PHP: HELP

hi guys.. im starting out with php, i want to migrate my site to full php.. i don't know where to start. i want to install it first on my computer then once everything is set, i'll just upload the files to the server.

anyone wants to help me get started? what do i need (apache? php?)? i really have no clue on where to start.

i've tried looking into tutorials. can't find decent ones. does anyone know any decent tutorials? something for real dummies like me lol

please help i want to enjoy what php is offering!

To get started, a small book might be handy. I started learning PHP with a book called Learn PHP in 24 Hours and it get me started. Once I got the basics, I just use the online documentation to find specifics for what I am trying to do.

As for installing PHP, what platform (i.e. Linux, Win32, etc . . .) are you wanting to install it to? If you are on windows, all you will need is Apache windows binaries, and the PHP windows binaries to install.

Google for apache and php, they will take you to the specific sites for download.

On those pages are also manuals on how to get started installing, configuring, and using them.

Google for PHP Dev and EasyPHP. Both are pretty all-inclusive and very little modification is needed. (Other than to secure it once installed.)
