Urgent - Database Drop

Hi..
i have accidently drop my database and i dont have anybackup of it also.. how can i get it back 🙁 please treat it as very urgent help.. and please give me the solution.

If you're using PostgreSQL it's pretty much gone, as it unlinks the file. You'd have to use some kind of file recovery util and hope nothing's overwritten the file yet.

Not sure at all about mysql recoverability, but I'd be surprised if it was any different.

i was not able to restore the db, Now i have manually created db again, but lost the data.

But I bet you'll be a lot more careful about backup procedures in the future eh?

We've all been bit by that kind of thing, hopefully it wasn't too big of a loss for ya.

With postgres 8 you could use PITR to recover, no?

Sure. but it would have to be setup first. After the fact it's too late.

PITR is pretty cool though.

But nothing beats a nightly pg_dumpall... 🙂

Yes,
Now i am doing regualr DB backup 🙂 and luckly it was not too much of data.. but for future i am very cautious 😃
