Secure Session ID's

I have been making login scripts for friends for quite a while and I have been using a simple login with sessions and a remember me cookie. But now I am workin on a download script at SourceForge and I need a more secure login.

I have been looking everywhere for a tutorial that shows me how to use session ID checking and I cannot find one. The only one I found uses Pear and I don't want to use it.

So can someone please explain this to me. Please!

Hmm, session id checking? I don't know I've worried about it much, but have your read any of these?
