How can I use html.tmpl with php??

I wish to use html.tmpl with php..
there is a login form in form of html.tmpl which contains the login & password form ...I wish to take input from that tmplate to a php file which will inturn makes a user login to its respective account....
plz if anybody can suggest a method....or a short code...as an example
