LEFT JOIN not working

OK...maybe I am too close to this, since I've been juggling code variations -- this seems pretty straight forward matching Field1 in both tables, checking that a field in table1 equals YES and a field in table2 equals a different variable.

$sql= "SELECT P.Field1, P.Field2 FROM TABLE1 T1".
"LEFT OUTER JOIN TABLE1 T2".
"ON T1.Field1= T2.Field1".
"AND (T1.Field3 = 'YES') ".
"WHERE ".
"(T2.Field4 = '$variable') ".
"ORDER BY T1.Field2";

Any ideas?

What is the error you're getting? If no error, what's the expected behavior vs the actual behavior? Did you print out the sql statement after creating it? If not, do so. If so, please give the output.

Off the top of my head I notice that you're referencing a table P in your field list which isn't included in the query, and that when concatenating lines you've left out several spaces.
