question about radius function in mysql5

Hi All,

I have heard that mysql5 has some type of radius feature which can figure out distances. Is this based on zip codes, or longitude and latitude? I'm wondering where the link to the function is and if anyone has tried this out for response time.

Have you searched around? Also, where did you hear about this? The quick searching I've found tends to point me towards Radius as in the authentication software (handy for wireless account management/access). This is not the same as "radius of a circle."

I realize radius is used for something else like what you're mentioning. I remember seeing something about this in the promotional notes on the mysql site. It might have been latitude/longitude conversions, sorry and yes I did search, thought someone else might have had experience with this.
