How to change from global to local variable

Hello Guys
I have a web page that has a PHP code that translates it from English to French. The code just stopped working and when I asked my web host their answer was "your script is using register_global variable. Those have been turned off from servers for security reasons. You have to change from global to local variable in your code". Being a newbie I have no idea what that is. This is a link to what I am talking about. I would appreciate any help. Many thanks.

change all refernces to $lang to $_GET['lang']
you should read up on Using Register Globals
