Hi All!

Thefisherman has got something new to worry about:

Printing! from PHP.

I've got a redhat 9 box woth apache and php/mysql etc..

I've created a small bookkeeping program in php and with that i would like to print to my network printer using php.

So i have a bill i want to print, this bill is actually a table with a bunch of variables in it. I just want to print it on my own stationary.

I can ouput all this to screen (webbrowser) and press ctrl+p but that sortof loses my control over the whole thing, meaning i can't tell whether or not something was actually printed.

And i want to know, because i want to record those actions into my database.

Any ideas?

Eh?

Wouldn't it be easier to output it to an Excel file and then just go from there?

Or, create an actual page that presents the information involved.

This is exactly what I am trying to do. I started by using printer_open etc but I have now gone to creating XL docs and am now trying to send them to a network printer.

How do we do the last bit of piping them to a printer?

(Im using Apachie 2.0.52, PHP 5.0.3 & MYSQL 4.1.9 on WinXP machine)

Thanks for that, it actualy will come in useful later but I think that it may not help my situation now. We have no printer server etc just a large amount of connected computers sharring their attached printers.

I was after some way of shelling out and printing like unix

print /d:\OFFICE4\catalog C:\si.txt

Unfortunatly (again) the printers have large names with spaces in them, multiple files to sent at once and some of the printers are label printers that need special page layouts and commands 🙁
