Percentages? Hits? What?

I am looking to build a link redirecting script based upon hit percentages per link. Anyone have experience in this? ideas? I am at a loss as to what would yield the best results. The easiest would be to throw in a random number 1-100 and whatever the resulting number is go to that link. I believe I have a better chance of winning the lotto then sending the correct percentage of hits. Any help or perspective would be greatly appreciated...😃

Sure, I would like to send 20% of incoming traffic to site A, 30% to site B, 40% to site C and 10% to site D. Does that make sense?

I think this one is hard to do(possible??) since u never will know the TOTAL incoming traffic.

If you count your max BW-traffic(divide by 4) and see the usage of your traffic maybe then it's possible to redirect..

just some thoughts... 🙂

Just do a # out of 10 deal. 10 is the lowest number you can do it by. So if Site a get 20% then they get clicks 1,2 - Site B 50%, they get 3,4,5,6,7, etc

I am thinking that every 15mins or so to take the hits ive sent for each link and compare the percentages actually sent with percentages I want, then to maybe modify the outgoing number needed... so say link C has sent only 25% while link D sent 15%, i could hold off sending to link D and send more hits to C till whatever number there over/short is reached and continue with the generic % output.

All input / critisism is welcome 🆒

Ack, it's not so hard. You don't need the total number of hits...you have percentages...

If $a is worth 50% of the hits and $b is worth 30% and $c is worth 20% why do you need a total? It all adds up to a hundred...

$a = 5; // as in 5 out of 10 - it could be 50 out of 100
$b = 3;
$c = 2;

$a + $b + $c = 10;

So, just find a way, and there are a gazillion ways to do it, to apply your $a url to 5 out of 10 elements in an array (which is selected rand of course) and there you go.

I'd write this up, but I think that's the point of this forum.
