Php + Com + Word

Hi.

If I do the folowing:

$word = new COM("word.application");
echo "version {$word->Version}<BR>";
$word->Visible = 1;
$word->Documents->Add();

I get this output

version 9.0

I'm administrator on the server where I run it.

What should I Do?

I use windows XP professional + IIS 5.1

Well I fugured it out myselfe.

If sombody else has this problem well google will point you to this post.

I work on a Windows XP professional and use IIS 5.1 + Office 2000.

And I can't open macro space to generate word files automaticaly.

If you have the same problem for excel, acces or powepoint then change word by the app you use 🙂

Step 1:
click start then run. (NL: start, uitvoeren)
type in the dialog box the folowing command : dcomcnfg
This will open your Component Services.

Step 2:
Press component services in the tree.
(I do not know why but do not press the + sign. press the text else it could be that you will not see any computers).

Step 3:
Click on computers and then click on your computer (EN: my computer, NL: Deze computer)

Step 4:
click on DCOM configuration.

Step 5:
On the right you will see some packages. Locate Microsoft Word Document.

(EN: or Microsoft Excell application, or Microsoft Access application or Microsoft powerpoint presentation)
(NL: of Microsoft Excell toepassing, or Microsoft Access toepassing or Microsoft powerpoint presentatie)
Step 6:
right click Microsoft word document and in the menu choose properties (NL: Eigenschappen)

Step 7:
Go to scheet Identity (NL: Identiteit) and click the radio button Interactive User (NL: Interactieve gebruiker)

Step 8:
on the sheet Security make shure that in the first 2 blocks Standard values are used.
and the last block press (EN: not shure but probably it is Edit) (NL: Bewerken).
Make shure that the user that will execute the script has all the rights.

Step 9:
Close the dialogue box and right click on My computer and again choose properties.
Got to sheet COM security (nl: COM beveiliging)

Step 10:
Press (NL: Standaardwaarde bewerken van Toegangs machtigingen) (EN: quick translation: edit standard values of access rights)
Make shure the right user has all rights (to be completely shure (but not safe) add everyone in the list and give him all the rights)

Step 11:
Do the same for (nl: Machtigingen voor starten en activeren) (en: again rough translation: Rights for starting and activating)

step 12:
press ok, close component services and test your scripts.
