major help needed - user authentication

hi
i have never used PHP before
i have web hosting from yahoo
PHP is my enabled scripting language for my plan
i have a minor issue
i have a protected directory, when you are prompted for the password u are sent to a page to pick ur name from a list... if u cohose a different name it asks u to authenticate as them cause it takes u to their directory, but effectively u can click ur name and get to ur stuff and not into anyone elses
i would like to set it up so depending on who logs in, it takes them to their directory based on their username
how can i do tihs?
and i need major assistance, i never used PHP before

HTML and PHP are very different. So depending on how quickly you pick it up it will take sometime to learn. You may want to search for User Authentication scripts here. Theres the manual http://php.net/manual/en you may find you require tutorials a quick google search on membership system or user authentication will probably give you a good amount to go through.

other than maybe fixing the code you have, were generally not in the habbit of building complete solutions for people.
